What Am I Not Seeing?
The other day I hit a curb.
Not because I was distracted. Not because I was driving recklessly.
I simply couldn't see it.
That tiny jolt stayed with me far longer than I expected because it reminded me how much of life is lived from our own perspective. And every perspective has blind spots.
We all have places we can't see.
Sometimes it's an old belief quietly making our decisions.
Sometimes it's a habit we've repeated for so long it feels like part of our personality.
Sometimes it's the story we've told ourselves for years without ever stopping to ask if it's actually true.
The funny thing about blind spots is that they aren't signs of failure.
They're simply places we don't yet have visibility.
That's why curiosity matters so much.
Curiosity doesn't accuse. It asks.
What am I missing?
Is there another way to see this?
What if someone else's perspective could help me notice what I can't?
Some of the biggest shifts in my life haven't come from trying harder.
They've come from seeing differently.
A friend asking one unexpected question.
A conversation that challenged an assumption.
A moment when I realized I'd been looking at the same situation through the same window for years.
Life has a way of bumping us into curbs from time to time.
Not to punish us.
Sometimes simply to remind us to adjust our mirrors.
Because what we can't see today may become tomorrow's greatest insight.
If You're Curious...
• Where in your life might you be assuming your perspective is the only one?
• Who has helped you see something about yourself that you couldn't see on your own?
• What's one area of your life where a little more curiosity might reveal a whole new path?
